Hello!

I finally have some good pics of the boys I adopted through you back in February :)

Bertie is the Siamese-looking boy, and Bingo is the hooded. They're such great, funny boys. Bingo likes to wear flakes of Total on his head and attempt to climb down from the hammock using only the walls and not the second floor of the cage! Bertie is definitely the shyer of the two and doesn't really like being picked up, but loves head scratches, and will gladly submit to them for the promise of a yogurt drop :)

They're wonderful boys and I'm so glad I have them :)

Hi! We just wanted to share some pics (left pic is Tater and right pic is Max) of
the 2 girls we adopted 2 weeks ago. We're so happy with them. I can't
believe how big they're getting now! Tater is a very sweet and mellow girl
and Max is a very busy girl! We're just thrilled! Thanks again!

Hi there, Just wanted to let you know that my girl O'Baby aka Eowyn is doing well. She is a good girl who enjoys hanging out with her friend Vipaka and munching yogies. She's pretty mellow for a girl. Thought you might like a picture, I've found PEWs are hard to photograph...Thanks for getting us together Kim's Ark! Take care and Happy Holidays!

Hi Tracy. This is Corrina Rakowsky and I adopted Bubbles and Dusty, the two hairless females, from the Ark. I have sent you the adoption contract just today. They are doing fantastic right now. All they want to do is come out and snuggle all the time! I am so happy that I have adopted them and drove all the way to Mass to pick them up, because they are just the best. They have recently moved in with my other female rats, and all are getting along very well. Their favorite place to be is in the warm hammock that I bought for them. Everytime that I open up the door, they are right there to greet me.

hi kim it's me again!! Lindsay! just wanted to let you know how the boys are doing!! so far they are doing great and they are the sweetest boys ever!! i love them. i let them run around on my bed and they climb all over me and they love! licking my hands!! haha. they also love yogurt drops!! hehe. their getting very spoiled here!! Of course you might want to know their names!!!! hehe. their names are Filburt and Mr. Big Head (aka- Ed BigHead) hehe. i have a little theme going on with my rat names from the show Rocko's modern life hehe!! the boys are still in a separate cage for now until i take the main cage outside to scrub it clean all over then i'll try intoducing them in a separate room. but so far so good!! My other rat Flannel seems to like them! hehe. i'll let you know more about what happens in a few weeks!!! thank you sooo much kim!!!! talk to you soon!!!!

~Lindsay

The girls all grown up now, but something about their faces makes them still look like babies! The little girls get along very well with their older roommates (Marigold and Isabella) and they all sleep together in a plastic hidie-tube in their cage. Miranda follows the big girls around everywhere. She is becoming more adventurous every day... At first she was afraid to leave the cage, but curiosity got the better of her, and now she explores the whole "Rat Room" when the girls come out for playtime. Geraldine likes to hide in a Cheez-it box all the time, but comes right out when she smells a treat! There's a nice new hammock in their cage, but they seem to prefer sleeping in cardboard boxes (go figure.) I still can't quite figure out if Geraldine is black or a very dark grey... Miranda is definitly black though, and her fur is really shiny! Hopefully I'll have time over easter break to make a digging box for my girls, then I'll have lots more pictures and stories for you! :)

Kim arranged a rat relay all the way down here to New York City! I adopted two sweeties: Bradbury, a PEW lab rat and Ziggy, a gorgeous little grey blazed with an eye injury. I installed them in my bathroom where they have free range of the room. Both of them seem to be naturals with the litter box: I didn't put them in it or coach them in any way: and they are GREAT at using it!

They are really enjoying discovering new foods: corn flakes, rice, peas and corn.

They are both glowing with good health and they love each other...and me!

Thanks to Kim, another 2 rats saved!

Just thought I'd give you an update on the boys. They are both doing great and are getting along very well with my other boys. I have renamed them both. Smush is now Jaba the hut and Romeo is now Han Solo. They are getting more comfortable with me, Jaba would still rather tear around and explore rather than be cuddled. I can always get him to come over with a yogie bribe for a scratch behind the ears! He is pretty much a free range rat, he's happiest when he makes the decision of when he comes in or goes out.

I just love them both. Han is the sweetest boy and always clings to the side of the cage when I come in. Han is a very shoulder rat who loves going for rides around the house and has even come downtown with me to run errands. He sleeps in the hood of my sweatshirt while I do computer work or am studying, he also loves to follow right on my heels like a dog.

Both are little loves, they were my first rescue rats, and I'm already in search of another rat that may be looking for a home. Kim, have any rats that you'd be willing to transport up again? If you're ever up this way, please let me know!

~ Briana

Kim,

The mice are soooo adorable! I love them! Laksha (the white one) means white rose in Indian and Chaaya (the black one) means shadow beauty in Indian. They are adjusting fine and love their new home :) They have sooo many toys and houses - they are already spoiled! Well thanks for getting these little cuties to me! :)

~Jess

Got back home @ 3:30, and moved our girls into their bigger cage. They absolutely love their new home!! Running around on the wheel, running up and down the two ramps...eating and drinking...all are doing very well.

Thank you so very much, Kim! We couldn't have asked for a better group of rats. We are thoroughly thrilled with them; we have their cage in our bedroom, and Drew's watching the NFL in there, watching the ratties, too.

They are a joy to have!

~ Patti and Drew

Punkie and Whizzer are great little rattie girls. Punkie is a big sweetheart, and loves to cover me in kisses whenever I take her out. She is very energetic and is always running around. Whizzer is still a little shy towards people, but she has warmed up so much. She loves to hide her head when she is being held, and take quick little peeks at whoever is holding her. She is so quiet and sweet. I am very glad that I was able to bring these beautiful girls into my happy rat family.

Thank You Kim!!!

~Stacy

Brie (beige hooded): She's the shyest of the bunch. An exercise-a-holic, she dominates the wheel we have for her in the cage. Loves to curl up on her rat hammock, and take a nap!

Maddie (gray/blue berk): The most adventurous, inquisitive of the bunch. She puts on her explorer cap, and ventures as far as she can around the room they play in. Will inspect just about anything.

Hannah (black berk): She's a biter, not a lover! I guess it's friendly nibbling, but she enjoys 'nibbling' your toes. Will run up your arm to your shoulder, if you let her. Enjoys chasing and being chased by her 'sisters' around the bookcase.

All enjoy curling up together on their hammock, and just participating in some general shinanigans when they're out to play in the evening. They absolutely love their Martin's cage (all 3 levels of it!), and it's hard to not let them out to play when I get up in the morning...they jockey for attention, and try to give me that 'certain face', though!!

~Patti

Malkaris and her 9 babies were all adopted together! They're now in NYC - home of the subway rat!

Kim's Ark only bunny rescue! Cotton was a former classroom rabbit who now lives happily in his new home!

Liam is doing great. He's a doll. He and Squeakers do not get along living together but they have cages set up right next to each other. My daughter plays with him every night and i get Squeakers. He fits right in and loves my dog, crystal. he likes to ride around on crystal's back.

- Kimberly F., who adopted an O'Bob Baby!

Both girls are doing wonderfully. They've both almost doubled in size, but they're still so stinkin tiny! and crazy! I swear they never stand still. They're living in a martins 695 with my two lab girls and big squishy uncle Gus who they love to both torture and snuggle. All five rats squished into one small hammock = rat bliss.

Clarice is a silly, licky little girl. She doesn't want anything to do with being held, though. No time for that nonsense i guess. Amelia is the wheel running queen. She still looks like an alien - she's getting more naked on top and less naked on the bottom. I'm really curious to see what she'll look like when she's all grown up.

I'm very glad to have them here. Check out the pictures below!

Is it sad when you can tell two identical rats apart? I can with these girls.. Marlie is much more attention craved than Tess is, and is guaranteed to be at the door of their cage begging for just that. Tess on the other hand, is either asleep, or elsewhere until she notices I exist. Tess is my "paper pirate", as she steals all paper products immediately, to shred them up and store them in her hiding spot on the desk or in the cage. Marlie is the playful one, who still pounces on my hand. I ruffle her up a bit, then she goes after Tess, bounces back, and pounces on my hand once again.

I've learned that despite my other rats hating/ignoring snow, these two LOVE it! I put a shallow pan of fresh snow in their cage, and they'll dig in it, kicking it everywhere, and eat it. Once it melts, however, they promptly fill it with yesterdays news making a huge mess as it soaks up the water. At least they don't pee in it like the others do when I introduce them to snow...

Their abcesses have healed nicely, and I'm glad I got to know their personalities fast, because I can't tell them apart by that anymore. I will say Marlie's so incredibly outgoing, it's great! All my other rats are just starting to wind down with aging, but she's just picking up.

The two still can't crack open walnut shells, so I'll crack them slightly (to give them a head start). They enjoy chicken bones and various exotic fruits. Star fruit is becoming a favorite, along with avocado and kiwi. When I make scrambled or boiled eggs for my STO and african pouched rat, I'll give some to the rats, and Marlie and Tess fight over that more than anything else.

Tess digs chasing string and destroying paper, Marlie likes hand-contact playing instead. They do stick together a lot, I've noticed... and I'm glad they weren't seperated.

Thank you a LOT for them.. and I WILL send pictures whenever I get access to a camera again!!

Hi Kim:
Well, they have so mellowed out! Tucker is still the smallest, but he's discovered the wonders of skritches...he just blisses out! It's hilarious to have the two big albino boys and Tucker all in my lap being scratched at the same time. They have all turned out to be wonderful rats.

Thanks to all so much for your efforts to get these cuties transported. They have already brought so much happiness ang laughter to our home. Last night both of them sat on my shoulder and let me pet them, they seem very content in there new home. Here's their homecoming photo...

thanks again! kim you are the best, and your dad is really great too.

Ash came from a home in CT, with his brother Oreo, that was unable to care for him anymore. Within four hours of arriving in foster care with Kim, he attacked his brother who had to be rushed to the emergency vet, anesthetized, and sutured in multiple places. Of course they were then separated. Ash was very scared and aggressive, he would pouf and puff if anyone even looked at him. He could not be safely handled while in foster care. He slowly began to calm down after he was neutered and as he adjusted to his foster house. An understanding home was finally found and the night before he was going to his forever home he started having breathing problems. He was rushed to the emergency vet and over the next couple weeks made a complete recovery. Finally, he found a great man named John and has adjusted to his forever home beautifully. Below is a recent letter and picture from his dad...

Hi Kim,

Ash is doing very well. I let him out twice a day. He's very playful. He also litter trained. He still doesn't like to be touch or picked up. He loves riding on my feet for some reason. He gets all excited, hops on a foot, I lift it, he then jumps off and goes on the other foot. He'll do this for quite a while. He explores everything. Anything and everything he can grab ends up in his cage. I cannot leave tissue boxes anywhere or they are quickly emptied. All in all he's doing great. This picture is just as he woke up after a nap on the upper tier of his cage.

John
